Capitalism and Love?

When I first set up my Facebook profile many years ago it asked for my Political Views and being dissatisfied with the politics that I have experienced growing up in the US I put "Capitalism". Capitalism may not have been an official political party or political platform at the time I thought it was still a pretty solid political view. There are lots of different types of governments and even more political parties across the world. Our economy is certainly more "global" than it has ever been and with the changing face of technology it seems we are all becoming more and more effected by one another. With all of the different types of government out there and all the different political parties I wonder if Capitalism might hold some common thread we could all hold onto together? I maybe naive but I say that Capitalism when paired with Love would really work as a political platform for our global society.

Some may say that Capitalism promotes selfishness and greed and in some cases they would be right but if you pair Capitalism with Love you have a different animal. Perhaps then the question would arise; "Aren't Capitalism and Love a contradiction?" Where Love does not seek it's own, Capitalism seeks profit. Perhaps that is the only contradiction, perhaps there are others. I wonder... How would you blend these two, how can the be used together for the good of society?

I recently watched the first two movie installments of "Atlas Shrugged" and am looking forward to the third installment. Apparently these movies are based on the book by the same name by "Ayn Rand". These movies were the inspiration for this article and now I am considering making the time to read the novel. Movies and novels are typically pure fiction based on just enough reality to keep us interested. So, I'm not sure how much truth we can gather from them other than the fact they might get us thinking about some things.

I'm blessed to live in a society that has in our history (the US) rewarded capitalist people who work hard. But I am beyond blessed to have a God that gives me Grace rather than what I deserve or have "earned". Can one blend Capitalism and Love to form a solid political platform or is that what people have been trying to do for years and this mess is what we have ended up with?
